A-WA

A-WA (pronounced Ay-Wa) is a band formed by 3 sisters who combine music inspired by the ancient oral history of Yemenite women's chanting with electronic dance music. Their debut album Habib Galbi brings unique identity with a lot of groove, electronics and a brand new desert beat fragrance. Through their warm and genuine music, that breaks through language barriers and boundaries, A-WA has been making people dance worldwide, embracing all generations and walks of life.

Tair, Liron and Tagel Haim grew up in a family of six siblings in the small village 'Shaharut' in southern Israel, not too far from the Egyptian border, amongst beautiful prairie landscapes with magical desert sunsets. All three sisters studied music, sang, danced and performed together and separately since a very young age. Their whole family was musical, and they listened to many different kinds of music, such as Greek music, Yemenite music, Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae, Progressive rock and more. The inspirations that sustained them, and the warm musical home that encouraged them, have become the creative part and parcel of their lives.

For their first album Habib Galbi, the sisters collaborated with Tomer Yosef of Balkan Beat Box as producer. Their first music video Habib Galbi, directed and filmed by Tomer in an intense weekend in the desert, garnered millions of views worldwide and introduced A-WA to the world. Their debut album reached Gold Status in Israel. A-WA continue their worldwide tour this summer 2017 and will be working on new music in the fall.
